Lake Summit |
Submit your application to attend the Lake Summit, the upcoming Urbit developer conference. This summer, on a beautiful lake just an hour’s drive from Atlanta, GA, Urbit developers will showcase what they’ve been working on, discuss future projects, and (let’s face it, it’s June in Georgia) probably do a lot of swimming in the lake. Make sure to apply soon, because the deadline is May 17th. We can’t wait to see you all there. |

Urbit Systems Technical Journal |
The Urbit Systems Technical Journal, the first and only journal of solid-state computing, is now available to order.
Buy your print copy or read the journal online here. (Articles from the first issue will be released online only every two weeks, so if you want to read them all at once, best to buy a print copy.)
Featuring a look back at the Urbit whitepaper from UF CTO Ted Blackman, a disquisition on floating-point determinism from UF’s Neal Davis, and much more, the USTJ is the journal for discussing all the most interesting problems in the space.
Free copies of USTJ will be made available to all attendees of this year’s LambdaConf, where UF’s Neal Davis, Liam Fitzgerald, and Luke Champine, along with Zorp’s Edward Amsden, will be presenting. |

Shrubbery |
Shrubbery is a long-term project to a deliver on some of Urbit’s most ambitious and exciting promises. A re-write of the Gall and Clay vanes, Shrubbery will deliver an Urbit ecosystem in which code and data are one—and true interoperability between all different components of the Urbit system is possible. Read Urbit Foundation engineer Liam Fitzgerald’s short summary of the Shrubbery project here.

Are we ready for a new computing paradigm? Most of us in the Urbit community would answer with an enthusiastic yes. UF Deputy Executive Director Thomas Kroes dropped by BUIDL ASIA in Seoul last month to spread the gospel to some of the biggest crypto luminaries in the industry. Watch now. |

Odds & Ends |
Some quick hits from on and around the network this past month: After a hiatus of several years, Urbit is back at LambdaConf. UF’s Liam Fitzgerald, Neal Davis, and Luke Champine, as well as Zorp’s Edward Amsden, will be presenting—don’t miss it. Check out this detailed thread from the Urbit Foundation highlighting all the recent development work that has gone into improving the network. UF CTO Ted Blackman dug up this golden oldie blog post from UF’s Anthony Arroyo, which perfectly encapsulates Urbit’s value add. Tlon is hiring. If you’re an engineer who’s always been dying to work full-time on Urbit, now’s your chance to apply. Red Horizon’s ~tiller-tolbus and ~master-molwyl discuss the Urbit hosting ecosystem on the third episode of Urbit Radio.

As always, we look forward to seeing you on the network!
